But: Depuis 1918, l’Association des Amputés de guerre
répond aux besoins des anciens combattants amputés
et, aujourd’hui encore, elle continue d’être à leur service,
tout en aidant d’autres Canadiens amputés,
parmi lesquels on compte des enfants. Le Programme
LES VAINQUEURS offre aux enfants amputés une aide
financière pour l’achat de membres artificiels,
des séminaires régionaux, du soutien entre pairs et bien
d’autres choses encore. La seule source de financement
de l’Association des Amputés de guerre provient de
l’appui du public à son Service des plaques porte-clés
et des étiquettes-adresse. L’organisme ne reçoit
aucune subvention gouvernementale. Grâce au
Programme LES VAINQUEURS, la tradition
de l’association, « les amputés s’entraident »,
se poursuivra.
